Adopt-A-Fire-Station (AAFS)

Imagine you're fast asleep after a long day at work when suddenly alarms start blaring, the clock reads 3:08 a.m., a dispatcher's voice dictating details of yet another 9-1-1 call. Jumping out of bed and in less than one minute you're geared up in your turnout, boots, and run to join the team and report to the newest incident.

After the grueling hours attending to the emergency, you return back to the station exhausted. It is now 5:30 a.m. and while your shift ends at 8, you know you will be reporting to several more calls before clocking out. You go to the kitchen to make yourself a cup of coffee and realize the machine is broken. Unfortunately, this is a small glimpse into what its like at any given Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) fire station. 

The Adopt-A-Fire-Station (AAFS) Program was created to improve the working and living conditions for firefighters and paramedics for all 106 LAFD fire stations.

Working in 24-hour shifts, stations are not only a workplace but also members’ second home. Everyday household items like washers, dryers, ice machines, coffee makers, kitchen faucets, refrigerators, etc. are used around the clock. When one of these items breaks due to the heavy usage, a replacement is not covered by the city’s budget.

  • Staff will ask for your credit card information


  • Make check payable to “Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation” or the “LAFD Foundation”
  • Write in the memo the fire station you are donating to
  • Mail check to 1700 Stadium Way, Suite 100, Los Angeles, CA 90012


  • You may mail or drop cash donations at the address listed in the header
  • Include a letter or note stating it is dedicated to the station
